Dear Dads, Mams, Pupils and Staff,
Today was a very exciting day for our school. ‘The Zen Den’, which is our brand-new quiet space was officially opened by Mrs. Shanahan and Mark Murphy our Caretaker. They had help from a pod of Sixth Class pupils who were delighted to be the first visitors to the Zen Den. Sixth Class also chose the name for the new space.
Mrs. Shanahan has been working hard over the last few months planning and organising ‘The Zen Den’ and she had great help from Mark who did a fantastic job renovating what was originally a storage space. The space is a quiet, calm area that appeals to all the senses, with projections, a bubble tube, lots of different fabrics and textures, sounds of the sea and the scent of lavender.
The funding for the space came from an anonymous donation. The donor asked that the money would be used for the benefit of all the children and judging by the reaction of the girls, it has been well spent!
A huge ‘Thank You’ to Mrs. Shanahan, Mark and the kind donor. We are looking forward to making great use of The Zen Den in the weeks and years to come. I might even spend a bit of time there myself😊.
Yours sincerely,
C. O’Reilly – Principal
