Our Lady of Good Counsel GNS

Ferrybank, Waterford

Last week we enjoyed lots of wonderful activities in Maths. Each week the girls play some maths games and really enjoy playing together while learning and practising their maths skills.

We also learned about sequencing and added a lot of language so that we could prepare and make very yummy Rice Krispie buns. Well done chefs!

Halloween is fast approaching. Enjoy the preparation and fun.

The girls in first class had great fun celebrating Maths Week this week.

We explored shapes, data collection, skip counting and odd and even numbers through books, activities and games.

Our book Froggy Song, promoting skip counting, was definitely the class favourite. We finished the week off with a maths trail around our school.

Through slicing up a bairín breac, we discussed and compared fractions. We then converted the fractions to decimals and percentages. In the end, we all had a tasty slice of breac and some of the girls found the precious ring! 💍

The girls wrote the digits 0-9 on conkers, we had collected during our Daily Mile. The activity involved picking out 4/5 conkers, putting those numbers in order, to create the biggest and smallest numbers. Who would have thought, so much fun could be had with conkers? ☺ The girls explored all the mathematical operations with the conkers.
