Dear Parents, Guardians, Pupils and Friends of the school,
It was great to see so many of you at the Parents-Teacher meetings during February. Thank you for taking the time out to come to meet your daughter’s teacher. We hope you enjoyed your visit. If you have yet to meet your daughter’s teacher, please contact Tracey in the office.

Little Red Kettle
We were delighted to have Little Red Kettle here in January. They performed two shows on the day and the girls had great fun – some even had the chance to play a part in the show! We look forward to welcoming Little Red Kettle back next year!!

Safer Internet Day
Many thanks to Mrs. Ryan who organised lessons and a competition for Safer Internet Day which took place last week. The girls took part in different activities to show them how to be safe when using technology and the internet. Today at assembly, Mrs. Ryan announced the winners of the Safer Internet Day Poster Competition run in each class. The winners are in the picture below! Well done everyone!

Lent and Ash Wednesday
We celebrated the start of Lent today with a Special Assembly from Senior Infants who showed everyone what Lent is all about and even shared some of their ideas as to what they are going to give up/improve on during Lent.

The girls from 2nd and 6th class also went to the Church for 10am Mass to receive ashes for Ash Wednesday.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year was celebrated on Saturday February 10th. Languages United Committee set up a lovely display to highlight Chinese New Year.  It is the year of the dragon.  Billions of people in China and around the world celebrate, often wearing red clothes, decorating their homes with red lanterns and taking part in traditional dragon dances. At New Year, families give presents of money in red envelopes.  They are called hong bow.

Happy Chinese New Year.

To celebrate Safer Internet Day in our school 3rd class presented a special assembly on how to Stay safe Online. Well done girls!

Safer Internet Day takes place on Tuesday February 6th .

On this date we will be joining people in more than 150 countries around the world in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2024.

2023 has seen some significant changes in terms of technology and regulation both in Ireland and Europe. Safer Internet Day allows us the opportunity to reflect on the role of digital technology in our lives and our understanding of how they work, their implications and opportunities.
The dedicated Safer Internet Day Hub at www.webwise.ie/saferinternetday/ provides information, resources and ideas.
In our school we have class activities, lessons and competitions to celebrate Safer Internet Day. We also have videos addressing online safety and digital media literacy topics including cyberbullying, image sharing, privacy, and online wellbeing.
Please support Safer Internet Day by highlighting it at home with your child.
Best wishes
Mrs Ryan

Please see the images below regarding the works in the Ferrybank area and the Abbey road itself. Note that our school is to benefit greatly from the works. To date, a new staff car park has been built which means that the girls have more space on the yard during break time. We will also see a drop off and collect area outside the school and a new basketball court as labelled on the image below. Although the current works and traffic delays are frustrating for everyone, the medium/long term picture is bright all going well.

On this map, you can see the current Abbey Road (in blue) with the new development underneath.
