Take a look at these snow day activities for Fourth Class.
1. Snowflakes! Can you create a snowflake using a sheet of paper and scissors? Fold the page in half and then in half again. Now, cut off some corners or create a pattern. Be creative! Unfold the page and you have a snowflake!
Question: Is it possible to fold a piece of paper in half more than seven times? Try it!
2. Time yourself. Start your timer. Read the next eight pages of your library book (aloud so that you don’t skip over any words!). Stop the timer. How did you do? Try once more. Have you beaten your score?
3. Projects. Use this extra time you get some project work done. (We’re in week two of four).
4. Multiples. Revise multiples of 8. Go back and revise multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (especially the ones you struggled with in your Friday tests).
5. Create your own board game! All you will need is a piece of paper (the bigger the better), a pencil, colours, a dice and some small objects to use as counters (for example rubbers and toppers).
First, draw out your ‘course’ or path. It may look like a snake moving around your page.
Break up the path into sections. Number the sections in order.
Mark START at the beginning of the course and END at the end.
Now it’s time to get creative. Maybe the sections will turn into stepping stones? Maybe you’ll add some rules to catch people out (for example, if you land on number five you must hop back two spaces)? Use your imagination!
Make it as clear and as colourful as you can. If you have board games at home use them to inspire you.
Invite your family to play!
If you haven’t got a dice, that’s no problem. Use a piece of paper to create a cube like we’ve done before. Before you fold and stick it, mark the faces with numbers one to six.
6. Peace Proms. Revise the lyrics, the moves, Focus One, Focus Two, Focus Three, ‘Giraffes’ stance, ‘Bears’ seat.
7. Get outside and enjoy the snow (safely)!
