Hello to all the lovely girls in First Class. I’m delighted to be back at school with you. For the month of October, your homework will be all about reading.
Take out any books that you have at home and see if you can sort them into ‘Fiction’ and ‘Non-fiction’ piles. Fiction books are stories that have been made up. Non-fiction books tell us facts.
Choose one book per day and find 10 minutes to sit down with Mum and Dad. Have a look at the cover. What does it tell you about the book? What characters do you think you might meet? What things might you learn? What would you like to learn?
If you can, read the book with Mum or Dad, or follow the story as they read it for you.
Afterwards, talk about your favourite parts of the story or share something you have learned.
Hint: If you have books in languages other than English, that’s okay too. Just have fun reading.
