Hello girls,

I hope everyone in Senior Infants is staying safe and enjoying all the snow. Mrs Ryan is well and truly snow bound!

So just in case cabin fever is setting in I’ve got plenty of ideas to keep everyone entertained as Storm Emma rages on.

  1. Break out the board games: With many parents at home and not rushing around this is where old fashioned board games come into their own. Or even better why not make your own board game, it’s a great way to build on turn-taking skills, creativity, negotiation and logic.
  2. Get Crafty: Why not gather up recycled materials, old magazines and newspapers and go wild with a scissors and some glue. and let your imagination run wild!
  3. Ready, set, bake: Children love to bake and cook and it helps children develop their reading skills, follow instructions and develop hand-eye coordination. And the best thing of all you get to eat some yummy treats at the end.
  4. Make a mess: Homemade Play-Doh made with flour, salt, oil and water with food colouring is better than shop bought variety and very easy to make. Water play and messy play can also be great fun but make sure you get permission first!
  5. Camp indoors: Set up a small tent in the living room or bedroom. Put in some cushions, teddy bears, sleeping bags and books and camp indoors while the wind and snow is howling outside.

So girls I hope you enjoy some of the above activities and I will hopefully see everyone back safely in school on Monday.
