Good Morning Rang a Trí. As school is closed today I have listed some activities for you to complete.
• Create an acrostic poem entitled ‘Snow Day’ or ‘Storm Emma’ or Beast from the East e.g.

• Create your very own ‘Active Schools’ poster. Try come up with a catchy slogan for our school e.g. ‘Stop snoozing and get moving’. I will collect your posters when we return to school.
• 6 Times Tables:
(a) Write 6 times tables in the snow (only if it’s safe to do so)
(b) Get a stopwatch, time yourself saying the 6 times tables (6 1’s 6….)
• Library Book:
(a) Read your library book aloud.
(b) Make/write a prediction (I think….).
(c) Make/write a connection (This reminds me of…).
(d) Draw your visualisation (see, hear, taste, touch, smell).
(e) Write down four/five ‘I wonder…’ questions.
• Peace Proms: Revise the words and actions to the songs.

Peace Proms: On Thursday both 3rd and 4th class travelled to The Hub in Kilkenny for a rehearsal for our Peace Proms concert. We were singing and from 10:00am until 11.30. We were practicing and singing with other schools. The girls represented their school very well and paid great attention to Greg the conductor. Over the next 3 weeks we will be practicing very hard for the concert on Sunday 4th of March.
Art: Over the past few weeks we have been singing the song ‘Reach for the stars’ and this week we created colourful ‘Star Bursts’.

Gaeilge: Táimid ag foghlaim scéal nua ‘Ag dul ar Scoil’ agus ag labhairt faoi scoil.
Maths: We had Maths Stations this Wednesday where we revised Decimals and played loop games.
English: We have started a new novel for term 2 ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. The girls have become experts in identifying witches.
Peace Proms: Since we came back we have been learning the Hairspray Medley which includes – ‘Good Morning Baltimore’, ‘Nicest Kids in Town’ and ‘You can’t stop the beat’.

Art: We have been creating Lollipop Stick Snowmen and skating our way into the holidays.
Maths: We have been sharing/dividing items equally between 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 people. Writing division sentences. Putting lollipop sticks into equal sets/groups.
Gaeilge: Ag caint faoi am Nollag agus an Aimsir (An Geimhreadh)
We had the Little Sisters (tue) and Church (thurs) Performances. We really enjoyed the singing.

Art: Third Class have been very busy working on their Lighthouse Scenes and Hands/Feet art.
Christmas Carols: We have been practicing ‘Away in a Manger’ and ‘How much further to Bethlehem’.
Maths: We had maths stations on Wednesday. Some stations involved Maths games, problem solving and skip counting.

This week in 3rd class we have been practising our Peace Prom song ‘Reach’ and we have actions to accompany it. We have just started the ‘Earth’ song also.
Gaeilge: we have been learning our scéal ‘Tinn sa Leaba’.
Maths: we have been exploring and identifying fractions; halves, quarters, eights. We used fraction walls to look at equivalent fractions and geo-boards to look at breaking areas into equal parts.
History Story: we are learning about Oisín i dTír na nÓg

We were swimming in Kingfisher on Monday and will be swimming for the next 5 weeks.
We are very lucky and excited to be taking part in Peace Proms. We will be singing with choirs from lots of different schools and with a full orchestra. The school concert will take place in Kilkenny on the 4th of March. We have just received our songs and we are beginning to practice.
Art: Currently we are in the process of making our lighthouse scenes.
Ag caint Gaeilge: We are learning about ‘Mo theach’ agus ‘Sa Bhaile’
History Story: We are learning about the story of Cúculainn and learning how to retell it in your own words.
Maths: We are using our Maths eyes and identifying vertical, horizontal, parallel lines inside and outside the classroom and school building. We are also recognising right angles
English: Comprehension Strategy – ‘Questioning’
