It was great to be back to school after the long weekend and it’s great to see the sun shining! With the lovely weather we are having, it is important to stay safe in the sun. We must remember to Slip, Slop, Slap. We need to slip on a t-shirt, slop on high factor sun cream and slap on a hat and sunglasses. This simple rule will help keep us all safe in the sun.
We enjoyed our last session of Gymboree with Mrs Hardiman and we would like to thank her for the wonderful creative, energetic and fun times we’ve had during the past two years. We will really miss Gymbo!
We are also busy getting ready for our Green School presentation on energy efficient appliances on Tuesday. We will say our poem, show pictures of appliances and explain why they are energy efficient. We also have our Dancing Display and School Tour to look forward to. It’s a busy few weeks in Senior Infants

News from Senior Infants
This week we started The Stay Safe Programme in Senior Infants.
The topics that we will be discussing are: Feeling Safe and Unsafe, Friendship and Bullying, Touches, Secrets and Telling and Strangers.
The girls will have worksheets coming home with them over the next few weeks. This is an opportunity for parents to talk about these topics with your child.
If parents would like to view The Stay Safe programme they can log onto www.staysafe.ie
As we have a short week next week, senior infants will not be getting homework. This is a good opportunity to enjoy some outdoor activities, plant some flowers or vegetables, visit the library or create your own Aistear theme at home.

A fun week in school!
This week in senior infants we started our new Aistear theme ‘The Wedding’.<
In the Socio-Dramatic area the bride and groom and wedding party got ready for the wedding. They took lots of photographs and had a lovely wedding reception at the hotel. We had so much fun.
In the Creative area we designed the wedding cake using lots of recycled materials. They looked so delicious, almost too good to eat!
In the Small World area we built the hair salon, the church and the function room in the hotel. We had so much fun planning and designing and we came up with lots of creative ideas.
In the construction area we built the function room where the wedding reception took place. We made the seating plan, the top table, the dance floor and we made lovely 'favour ideas' for each table.
In the writing area we made the wedding invitations. This involved us planning, designing and writing the invitations. We also made special envelopes to put them in.
The reading/writing area was used by all groups and we got lovely wedding books from Ferrybank library. We really enjoyed these books.
Check out some of our photos from a busy week in senior infants.

News from Senior Infants
This week we really enjoyed preparing for our new Aistear theme ‘The Wedding’.
We read the story ‘The Scarecrows’ Wedding’ by Julia Donaldson. She is one of our favourite authors and we really enjoy her books and illustrations. We all joined in and said our favourite sentence from the story:
‘Let’s have a wedding, the best wedding yet, A wedding that no one will ever forget.’ We also also had great fun acting out this story in drama.
