Busy week in Senior Infants
We are delighted to have Ms. Sexton in our classroom this week. We learned a lovely phrase this week. Before we start our writing activity we all say:
“The first thing I do is always the same. I pick up my pencil and write my name”.
We also made a new drama contract for this term and the girls came up with great ideas. In Maths we learned all about “the story of eight” and investigated lots of different ways to make the number eight.
We really enjoyed doing hockey on Wednesday with the Active School Committee and we are running three laps of the top yard every day. Every time our class jogs a lap of the yard , we colour in one triangle on the pyramid in our classroom.
We had a fun packed active week in Senior Infants!

We also welcome Miss Sexton to our class this week. We hope she enjoys her time with us.

Happy New Year
We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a good rest. It was great to come back on Monday the 8th of January and meet all our friends and teachers. We heard all about the lovely presents Santa delivered.
We had a fun packed first week back. Even though the mornings are dark we can thankfully see a little stretch in the evenings. In Senior Infants we are setting up and preparing the different areas for our new topic ‘The Post Office’, we made a visit to the library on Thursday and we all really enjoyed the show put on by ‘The Little Red Kettle’ on Friday.
We are looking forward to lots of learning this term so keep up to date with our weekly Class blogs.
It’s the holidays……
It’s hard to believe the Christmas holidays are here. We had great fun performing our Christmas play ‘Hey Ewe’ this week. Thanks to all the mums and dads who came to see our performance in the church yesterday.
It’s been a busy term in Senior Infants. We are all looking forward to Santa’s arrival and having a really good rest. Lot’s of girls are sick at the moment in our class so hopefully they will be all better for Santa.
Mrs Ryan would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and peaceful Christmas and looking forward to having everybody back safe and well in the New Year. Ho! Ho! Ho!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…..
On Sunday morning we were all very excited to see it snowing. It was Senior Infant’s first time to experience lots of snow at home. We had great fun in the snow throwing snowballs and lots of girls made a snowman in their garden. Thankfully we were able to make it to school on Monday!
This week we are busy preparing for our Christmas play ‘Hey Ewe’. We are looking forward to doing it for The Little Sisters next Tuesday and in the church next Thursday.
We really enjoyed having Gymboree on Wednesday with Mrs Hardiman. In Gymboree we helped Santa with his sleigh, went ice skating and we even got to throw snowballs at Mrs Ryan!! We had so much fun. We are also enjoying doing our Active homework and we will all keep it up during the Christmas holidays.

In the creative area we are recycling old shoe boxes and making and decorating our sitting room for Christmas. In the writing area we are writing our letters to Santa and we made a special post box. In the playdough area we are making Christmas dinner with delicious turkey, roast potatoes and sprouts. We also looked at recycled magazines and cut out Christmas dinner…yum, yum.
Our local library in Ferrybank very kindly sent down lots of Christmas books for us to read. We are having so much getting ready for Christmas in Senior Infants. A big congratulations to Anna who was the winner of our Christmas Crib Competition and Sara who was runner up. Well done girls.
