Reading for Homework

Read at Home Book 2.

This week the girls will read: Week 2
Monday 5th October: Pg 5 – Tomatoes
Tuesday 6th October: Pg 6 – Foxes
Wednesday 7th October: Pg 7 – Invitation
Thursday 8th October: Pg 8 – Snail Wail

The girls will read aloud, read the questions and try answer the questions orally.

Along with their Read at Home 2, the girls can do extra reading if they have books at home or books from the library that they would like to read.

This week 2nd class interviewed their partner and found out new and interesting things about the girls in their class.

2nd Class Homework

For the next 3 weeks 2nd class will be doing Reading for homework. The girls will bring home their Read at Home Book 2 and keep this book at home.

This week the girls will read:
Monday 5th October: Pg 1 – Sleepyhead
Tuesday 6th October: Pg 2 – A Few of My Favourite Things
Wednesday 7th October: Pg 3 – Pass-me-on-Polly
Thursday 8th October: Pg 4 – Buses

This week 2nd class designed their own autumn leaves by using the colours, yellow, orange, brown and black.

Welcome back to all the pupils in 2nd class. This week 2nd class designed their Maths problem solving bookmark ‘R.U.D.E.’ Word problems can be tricky so 2nd class came up with a strategy to help them solve word problems.

Read the question at least 3 times.
Underline key words, circle numbers.
Draw a picture + write a maths sentence.
Estimate your answer.

Nuacht Rang a Dó

Gaeilge: Scéal ‘Lá fuar’ agus ‘Sa Phictúirlann’. Ceist ‘Nach bhfuil an pictúir go deas? Tá sé go haoibhinn / Tá sé go deas.
Maths: Money, recognising, exchanging and using coins up to the value of 50 cents. Calculating how many items may be bought with a given sum of money. Colouring and cutting out coins.
Grow in Love: The girls have been learning about the story of ‘David and Goliath’ and today have been introduced to the story of St. Brigid.

Art: The girls have been designing their umbrellas for their ‘Rainy Days’ art pieces.
