St Patrick’s Day Parade at Our Lady of Good Counsel!

Friendship in Action

I was very proud of our Good Counsel girls today. Some new pupils who will be joining us very soon came to visit, and each class welcomed them with enthusiasm and kindness. Well done girls!

Our Family Wall is getting bigger. Why not send in a photo of your family to add to the group? We can photocopy the photo and send the original back to you.

Friendship

The girls in Sixth Class are writing poems on the theme of ‘Friendship’. We will share them with you later in the week. There might even be some poetry written in different languages!
Miss Kelly is working on a display on the theme of Family. If you have a photograph of your family that you would like included, please bring it to school and give it to Miss Kelly.

Intercultural Friendship Week

This week we are celebrating friendship, as well as the many cultures that make up our school community. We will have lots of activities built into the curriculum this week that will help us to explore what it means to be friends for example, Second Class is practising the song ‘Circle of Friends’, Fifth Class is helping Miss O’Reilly to make a collection of ‘A friend is…’ sentences and the girls in Senior Infants are making a great effort to get to know each other better and to make new friends. Keep an eye on this tab for more news as the week goes on and start getting your national colours and costumes ready for Friday.

Thursday 8th March

We had to postpone our World Book Day celebrations due to the snow. We will celebrate books at our school tomorrow, Thursday 8th March, when all the girls may come to school dressed as a character from a book.
Keep your costume simple, use your imagination and bring a book you like to school to share with your friends.

Thank You

Thank you very much to all our Mams, Dads, Grandparents and Staff for your patience and understanding with our traffic management systems today. Most importantly, we managed to get everyone in and out of school safely. We will check on the situation tomorrow morning and if we need to use the same system again we will do so.

Important Information

Hello Everyone,

The school will re-open tomorrow morning.

At 3p.m. this afternoon (Sunday) there was still a lot of snow on the yards. A path has been cleared to the front door. A drive through area has been cleared in the car park. We will need your co-operation to make sure that all of our girls stay safe.

Please note:

• The girls should not arrive before 9.10a.m. There will be no access to the yard before then.
• The girls may arrive any time up to 10a.m.
• For tomorrow, the girls will be taken into the school building as soon as they arrive.
• A ‘STOP, DROP & GO’ system will be in operation in the car park tomorrow.
• Please DO NOT PARK in the car park. Staff will be on hand to direct the children into the yard.
• Please drive within the traffic cones.
• Please have patience – hopefully this is only for one day 🙂

And finally, safety is everyone’s first priority so we are relying on your good sense to decide if it is safe to travel to school.

Enjoy the rest of the evening.
