These are certainly challenging times we are living and working through at the moment. Having completed almost four full weeks in school now, we are all adjusting to the ‘new normal’ of our daily routines. It is great to see it all coming together but now we have to continue this to ensure safety for all in our local area. Every member of our school community has an obligation to abide by the procedures to ensure we work on preventing the
spread of COVID-19. We know what we need to do to keep our school environment a safe, happy place and to allow the vital work of teaching and learning to proceed with as little disruption as possible. We also need to mind each other too when we are out and about. This week let us look at respiratory hygiene and how we can do our little bit to help each other.
Respiratory Hygiene
Every individual in our school community has responsibility to ensure that they, and the people around them, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means coughing or sneezing in to your elbow or covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and safely into a nearby bin. Sanitize or wash hands
afterwards. By following good respiratory hygiene, you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19. Please assist us by reinforcing good respiratory hygiene at home.
Thank you for your support as always.

Updated HSE Isolation Guide
This is the updated isolation guide from the HSE.
Updated-Isolation-GuideSome Information Updates
Traffic Management
You will know that Abbey Road is a very busy place at the moment. There are two building sites, a demolition site and ongoing works on the ESB network within a very short distance of each other. We are working with everyone concerned to keep the children safe and to keep traffic moving. For your own safety, and the safety of the children please do not stand in the middle of the drive through area. Thank you for your patience and co-operation and please continue to drive through the car park for drop offs and pick-ups. We are doing well thanks to everyone’s support and the girls continue to behave as Good Citizens of our school.
Reminder
If you have not already done so, please contact the school office on 051 832984 to arrange to pay your child’s contribution for Art and Craft, Reading Materials and Photocopying. A sincere thank you to everyone who has already used our contactless payment system.
What Happens If a School Has a Positive Covid-19 Case?
We hope and pray that we will not be in this position, but it may be useful for you to know what happens when a member of staff or a pupil tests positive for Covid-19.
- The HSE is responsible for managing the situation.
- The HSE will make an assessment and decide what needs to happen.
- If necessary, the HSE will contact the Principal and request Contact Tracing Information. The Principal must provide this information to the HSE. For more information check out https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/5/publichealth/publichealthdepts/moh/covid-19-and-schools.html The HSE will conduct any Contact Tracing.
- The HSE will make the decision on whether children or staff need to stay at home. Until this decision has been given to the school by the HSE, the school will remain open.
- To protect the privacy of children and staff members (GDPR) and to comply with Public Health guidelines, the school will not be contacting you to advise you of a positive test unless it is directed to do so by the HSE.
