Dear Mams, Dads and Good Counsel Girls,
Minister Foley made an announcement last week about re-opening schools on Thursday 21st Jan. for children with significant learning needs. The number of Covid-19 cases nationally is still high, and we are very concerned about bringing children and staff into the school at this time.
We are waiting for more guidance from the Department of Education, and we will contact any family concerned, by telephone, later this week. Until then, please continue with Home Learning and as always, we just ask that you do your best. Stay home and stay safe.

School To Stay Closed
Hello Everyone,
By now you will have heard the announcement that schools will not re-open as planned on Monday 11th January. The situation will be reviewed by the Department of Education on 30th January. For now, we have been told to stay closed until Monday 1st February.
This means that we will need to return to Home Learning next week. As teachers, we would prefer to be at school, and we know that Mams and Dads will not be looking forward to Home Learning either. However, we have done this before, and together, we can do it again. Our staff will meet online on Monday to plan for the best way to work with the children. Thankfully, we have set up Seesaw as our online learning platform so we are hoping that we can now put it to good use.
You will hear from us again on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning and the work can begin so make sure that you have your Seesaw code ready. In the meantime girls, spend Monday and Tuesday organising a space in the house where you can work. You might need to agree this with Mam or Dad, and remember they might also need a place to work so everyone will need to have patience. Get out your ‘Read at Home’ book and have it ready, and do some research on the educational programmes that you might be able to look at online or on TV. Make a plan to get some exercise every day.
Girls, during the first term, we saw how fantastic you are at helping to keep everyone safe. We need you to keep doing this at home – remember to wash your hands, sneeze into your sleeve and keep your distance. We know you will miss not being able to see your friends but if we all work together, then we will be able to get back to school again.
Most of all, be kind to everyone in your family. This is a hard time for everyone so continue to be Good Counsel Good Citizens that we can be proud of.
