Sports Day 2021

Thank you First Class for the wonderful banner.

We had a most enjoyable day yesterday at our school Sports Day. The girls spent the day outside taking part in lots of fun activities and trying out some new skills at different stations. Thank you to Mrs. Shanahan for planning the day, and to all the staff who managed the various stations for each class. A special ‘Well Done’ to the girls for taking part so well and for having a go!

Dear Parents, Children and Staff,

I hope that you will all enjoy the June Bank Holiday weekend and that the sun will shine for us.

Please continue to follow all the guidelines about mask wearing, coughing and social distancing. As recently as yesterday, a Waterford school had to close a class due to a Covid case so please help us to make sure that we do not have any closures over the next few weeks.

Look after yourselves and each other and we will see you all again on Tuesday June 8th, le cúnamh Dé.

With kind regards,

C. O’Reilly

Friendship Friday

Today is all about being a good friend.

At school:

  • A friendly message on the intercom from Mrs. Shanahan to start the day.
  • Each class will meditate for a period during the day.
  • The Special Education Team will make Friendship Bracelets with all the classes. We hope the girls have been tuning in to the Seesaw videos that Miss Power uploaded for you.

At home:

We all know the value of a true friend. Maybe today, you might call your best friend to tell them how much you appreciate him or her. If you don’t know what to say, you could simply read out this beautiful poem.

Friendship

Friends give hope

When life is low.

Friends are a place

Where we can go.

Friends are precious,

Honest and true.

I feel so lucky

My friend is you.

By Natalie and Emily – Fourth Class

Thoughtful Thursday

At school:

  • A ‘thoughtful’ Intercom message from Mrs. Shanahan to start the day
  • Each class will meditate for a period during the day.
  • Today, we are going to focus on being kind and thoughtful towards a classmate. Given the circumstances, the girls will focus on the girl they sit beside or a girl in their pod.
  • We will do random acts of kindness
  • The Daily Mile and Kidz Bop on YouTube

At home:

During the past year, the staff has had some lovely messages of support and thanks from Mams and Dads. They have meant a lot to us, so today, we simply want to say ‘Thank You’ to everyone in our school community who goes that extra mile to be kind and thoughtful.

Wellbeing Wednesday

We have a beautiful rainbow of colours in our school today! Thank you, girls for your great effort to dress in bright colours.

At school:

  • An Intercom message from Mrs. Shanahan to brighten the day.
  • Each class will meditate for a period during the day.
  • We will talk about positive emotions and how to ‘turn that frown upside down’.
  • Go Noodle fun
  • The Daily Mile/ WOW Walk on Wednesday – on our walks today, we will look at the nature’s bright colours.

At home: Our Good Counsel girls brighten our lives at school, and at home, every day. Listen to this lovely poem ‘All The Colours of the Earth’ by Sheila Hanamaka and take a bow Mams and Dads – you are doing an amazing job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmL93MAlmQ4
