Busy Bees
The girls have been very busy for the past 2 weeks. Last week they each planted sunflower seeds and have been enjoying taking care of them and watching them sprout and grow.
This week we worked with Ms Kelly to plant potatoes and we are looking forward to see how they grow after the Easter break.
Earlier this week we all went to the kitchen and we learned how to make rice crispie cakes. We changed up the recipe and used cornflakes instead. We decorated our cakes to make them look like nests, using little chicks and eggs. The girls did fantastic work and it seems like we have some young bakers in our class.
Happy Easter to all, and enjoy the break!

St. Patrick’s Day!

World Book Day
Today, the girls made a wonderful effort to dress up as a character from a book they have read. They all looked fabulous! They were lucky to have 3rd class join them for story time in the halla. Each girl in 3rd class read a story to a girl in Junior Infants.
As a class we also read The Wonky Donkey and participated in some fun activities based on the story; we traced our feet to draw a wonky donkey, we tried to guess what items were in Miss Hall’s stinky dinky bags by smelling them, and we even danced to some country music, just like the wonky donkey.

Chime n’ Play
This week the girls attended chime n’ play with Audrey. They enjoyed singing Christmas songs, using some instruments, and even used their imagination to ice skate!
We have also been practising for our Nativity play and are very excited to perform for the school and for Mams and Dads next week.

Houses and Homes
In Junior Infants we have been learning all about houses and homes. We learned about bungalows, apartments and 2 story houses. We looked at all the rooms in the house and used our doll house to put the furniture in the correct room.
In art we made our own shape houses. We used squares, rectangles, and triangles.

Halloween’s Coming
The girls have enjoyed going shopping and entering competitions during their first mission week in school. They have also been very busy preparing for Halloween and today they performed our song ‘Halloween’s Coming’ for the rest of the school during our talent show. The girls did a wonderful job and they might even sing it for you at home too. Thank you for all your efforts this week for mission week and dress up day. The girls have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wishing you all a safe and spooky Halloween!

Spiders
This week in Junior Infants we have been learning all about spiders.
Did you know spiders are not insects? Spiders are arachnids. Spiders have 8 legs but insects only have 6 legs.
We also learned the rhyme ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and we completed a cut and stick activity to sequence the rhyme.
During art we made spiders using card, pipe cleaners and eyes. Our cutting skills are really improving!
