🛒The Supermarket Aistear🛒

The Junior Infants have been busy shopping in Aistear this month!🛒 We are learning all about the supermarket and the different types of shops.

Group 1 sets up a supermarket, sorting items into the different aisles. The girls took it in turns to work at the cash register, as shopping assistants and customers. We had to remember to check our receipts and whether to pay by cash or card.

Group 2 were making breakfast and putting it on trays for their mams and dads. We put different toppings on our pancakes. We discussed how we would like to cook the eggs.

Group 3 played a shopping list memory game.

Group 4 were designed a new winter clothes collection…it will be featuring in Vogue soon.

Group 5 built a train track between Waterford Plunkett station and Dublin Heuston station. The girls pretended to build shops in the city centre.

Group 6 constructed a shopping centre which contained  various shops e.g. furniture, pet, food, clothes, electrical etc.

We have read many stories about shopping. One of our favourites was ‘The Shopping Basket‘ by John Burningham. We wrote a sentence and drew a picture to show what part of the story we enjoyed the most!

18th December 2017⛄

There is a lot of hustle and bustle down in the Junior Infants, as we are very busy preparing for the school play ‘Hey Ewe’ and our own short nativity play. We will be performing on Friday the 22nd for our mams and dads. We are so excited!

Last Monday, we had Christmas Gymboree with Mrs Hardiman. It was so much fun! We went ice-skating, sang Christmas songs, played with a parachute. We even had a ride on a sleigh. We must say a big Thank you to Mrs Hardiman for that exciting Monday morning. 🙂

Christmas Aistear 🎅

We have begun our Christmas Aistear!☃️

We designed and built Santa’s workshop from blocks.

We dressed up as Santa, his elves and characters from The Nativity to put on little plays.

Letters to Santa were written.🎁

We pretended to make toys in our Small World Area.

Scrumptious Christmas dinners were made from play dough.

The walls of our Santa’s Grotto were painted and we were shocked the next morning to find that our Elf on the shelf had assembled Santa’s house.

Festive Spirit🎅

We are getting into the festive spirit this week! We made Christmas Stockings, that hang in the hallway. We made Santa’s out of our hand-prints. We are going to bring them home and hang them on our Christmas trees.  There has been lovely singing from our room, as we are practicing for the school play. We had the last week of our Estate Agent Aistear. We have been learning all about time, number and capacity in maths.

Junior Infants News

As the weather is becoming colder, we are learning all about winter. ❄️ We wrote our names on circles and created a snowman during our literacy stations. We made gloves, hats, jumpers and coats out of felt and hung them on a line. We enjoyed reading a story about a bear who wanted to go to sleep (hibernate) but everywhere was too noisy!

We are learning all about bia as Gaeilge- úlla glas, banana buí, milséan, cáis, leitís agus cairead. Chuireamar na bia difriúl sa cisean dearg.

We are continuing with our Estate Agent theme in aistear and learning lots of new vocabulary.

In our maths stations, we have been learning about time, capacity and number.
