Fourth Class Blog

Homework

For the next 3 weeks 4th class will be doing Reading for homework. The girls will bring home their Read at Home Book 4 and keep this book at home.

This week the girls will read:

Monday 5th October: Pg 5

Tuesday 6th October: Pg 6

Wednesday 7th October: Pg 7

Thursday 8th October: Pg 8

The girls will read aloud and the focus is on fluency, understanding of vocabulary and summarizing. The girls will read the questions and read the story again. The girls will answer the questions orally, locating the answers in the story.

I would also appreciate if the girls could do 15 minutes of reading for pleasure and enjoyment. The evenings are getting darker and this is a good time to snuggle up and enjoy a good book!

Wellbeing Morning

We finished our week with Cosmic Yoga and the girls really enjoyed all their movements and discovering how flexible our bodies really are. We also completed our Daily Mile and many girls are now doing a personal best every day. Well done to all!

We are back!

Welcome Back!

A big welcome back to 4th Class. It is great to see all the lovely smiles again as we adjust to our new normal. We had our first visit to the library on Thursday and the girls were so excited about choosing their favourite books and authors. We have also started our class novel; Conor’s Caveman by Alan Nolan and this is proving a big hit! We look forward to a great year ahead where teaching and learning will take place in an atmosphere where kindness and happiness is a priority.

Surprise Sports Day!

Thank you to Miss Walsh, the Active School Committee and the Playground Leader for organising a surprise mini Sports Day today! We had a wonderful time!

Have a look at some photos of our play Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I would also like to say thank you to Fourth Class for a great year together! We were very lucky that we got the opportunity to do some wonderful things this year, including Peace Proms, Maths Week, Active Week and the Greenway cycle. I was very lucky to have such a proactive group of girls to help me. You were given a huge amount of responsibility this year and you all rose to the challenge.

I hope you remember to keep up your ‘growth mindset’; to succeed at anything you have to make (lots of!) mistakes first. Be kind to one another and I’ll see you all soon!

Miss Anderson 🙂

School Blog

On the 29th of May 4th class and 3rd class went to Castlecomer Discovery Park for our school tour. We did orienteering and the tree top walk. Everyone had so much fun at castlecomer discovery park. Next week on the 12th of June 4th class will be cycling on the Greenway with Donal and Olly and we also have the dancing display on the 12th of June.
