First Class Blog
Happy Easter !!!
First Class would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter and enjoy the long holidays ahead. We have been busy preparing for Holy Week and were learning the stations of the cross in religion. We visited Ferrybank Church to pay our respects to them.
We are finished Pirates {our topic in Coiscéim}. Each of the girls were called to interview for the place on board a pirate ship. The children were adamant they would stay in contact with their families if they were chosen by writing constantly and putting their letters in a bottle and placing it out to sea. { Hypothetically of course !! }. : }
Go n-éirí an t-ádh leat to anyone entering the Trinity photograph competition based on your interpretation of Energy. Photograph taken by the child, title of photograph and a few sentences about it all have to be emailed to the email address on the note I sent home with the girls today – closing date 02nd of April. – The competition is completely optional.
We would like to give a huge thank you to Miss Sexton for all the lovely lessons she taught us over the last 4 weeks. Thank you also for the lovely treats you brought us in today. The rice krispie buns were delicious. We wish you every success for your future endeavours .

World Book Day is Here !!!!
Due to unforeseen events weather-wise we celebrated World Book Day later than expected.

We had a fantastic mix of princesses, Little Red Riding Hood, a coffee maker, PJ Masks character, and cats.
The snow is here !!
First class I am looking forward to hearing all about your reactions when we woke up to a blanket of snow.
Hands up who accepts Miss Cunniffe’s challenges ??
1. Go out to a safe patch in your neighbourhood / garden and count how many footprints you can make in a row. {watch where you’re going of course}.
2. Remember to tell everyone to ‘sh’ {our sound for the week} and identify what sounds you can hear. eg. a dog barking, a child laughing.
3. Remember to keep up your spellings and tables -1. { I will be so proud of you}.
4. Clever clogs : Who can think up the most sentences with snow. Eg. I am making a snowman. I am having a snowball fight. { Say them to your friends / family and we’ll see who can remember the most}.
5. Tonight : Why not whip out the deck of cards and play a game of snap.
6. Hot chocolate time : Ask Mam or Dad for help in making a cup of hot chocolate. Think out the steps. eg. A.Add 3 teaspoons of drinking chocolate to a cup.
B. Add hot water. C. Stir. 4. Marshmallows if you please.
Slánaigí.
We are going to have some crazy news !!!

Happy New Year to you all from First Class.
We have been busy this week learning about sound in science. We were brainstorming examples of man made sounds and natural sounds.
1st Class are working hard on their reading and they have started getting a new book to read for pleasure and enjoyment each night. Keep it up !!!
The girls acting skills were plain for everyone to see today as several were chosen at random to perform with The Little Red Kettle. Call back next week for photographs.
Three Sleeps Til Christmas !!!
It’s hard to believe the first term is over. We want to thank all of the parents and relations who came to watch our Christmas performance ‘Hey Ewe’.
We had a lovely morning today in our ‘Toy Shop’. All of the girls brought in their own toys / games and were as busy as bees teaching their friends how play. I want to thank all of the girls also for doing such a good job cleaning the classroom afterwards.
First Class are going to have a well earned rest and when they come back after the holidays they will demonstrate how independent they are getting by taking down their own homework in their homework journals.
