Term 3

Everyone is welcome back to school, after a restful and chocolate filled Easter. As we are starting term 3, the girls are starting a lot of new learning this week.

We were learning to use y in a new way, as it makes an ee sound and the girls were busy brainstorming words that could be included.

First class were also introduced to place value, and were using stations and games to show ways of making two digit number from 1-99. They had great fun at this.

Easter is on the way

The girls had great fun this week, learning about and preparing for Easter. We learnt about things we see or things that happen at Easter and started reading the Easter story.

The classroom and corridors were soon filled with Easter bunnies wearing Easter bonnets, perfect to wear on an Easter egg hunt.

We started an experiment today to see what a plant needs to grow. We planted 4 pots, one to stay by the window in the classroom, watered everyday. One by the window, with no water, one in a dark press and 1 in the fridge. We’ll be watching carefully as scientists, to see what, if anything grows.

Gymnastics

For this half term, the girls in First Class are doing Gymnastics.

They are practicing rolls, jumps and different ways to move.

This week we got to put that all together in sequences. Each group practised different skills at each station, and really enjoyed themselves doing it.

Little Red Kettle

Being the first normal girls have had on school since starting, there are a lot of new and wonderful things they are experiencing.

Today the girls had their first time watching and partaking in a Little Red Kettle Production. Some got to be a part of the play and dress up but all very much enjoyed the show.

Stockings hung on the fireplace with care.

The girls are starting their preparation for Christmas. We are opening a new door of our advent calendar each day, with a chocolate surprise and an act of kindness towards others inside.

We are preparing our Christmas song for the Carol Concert.

We we busy elves this week, practicing sewing skills. Each girl measured and cut thread, threaded their needles, sewed a stocking with a trim amd wrote a name. The girls really enjoyed practicing these skills and got a gorgeous stocking, ready for Christmas.

Habitats Coisceim

The girls continued their learning about habitats and animals this week with habitat stations.

Each group read about hibernation, wrote sentences about where animals lived, played a game guessing an animal and made collages of animals that live in the same habitat.

The girls are really enjoying this topic and are excited to keep learning about it, next week when we start some projects.

Animal Homes

The girls are settling back in well after the midterm break. We started learning about animal homes or habitats this week.

The girls looked at the name of different habitats and some animals that lived there.

They also pretended to be animals. You can see some squirrels hibernating in a tree trunk in the forest below.
