Dear Parents, Guardians, Pupils and friends of the school,
I hope you are all looking forward to the Easter break. As we know, schools are busy places for everyone and the break at Easter gives everyone a chance to reflect and re-set before getting into our last term for this school year.
Raffle
Over the last couple of weeks, the Parents Association have been organising an Easter Raffle. The funds raised will go towards activities for the girls in Term 3. Many thanks to the Parents Association for all their efforts – in putting the prizes together and sorting the envelopes with the tickets. Thank you all who donated prizes and a big thank you to all of the children and parents for buying and selling tickets!! Over €1100 was raised….Well done everyone!!
Book Scheme
Last week, the government announced a new Book Scheme initiative for the coming 2023/2024 school year where parents no longer have to pay for school books or book rental. Great news for parents! Instead the school will supply the books on the first day of school. We will let you know more closer to the time!
Covid-19 and illness
Although we seem to be moving on from Covid-19, we continue to implement good practice in terms of sneezing, coughing, sanitising, handwashing and ventilation. These measures are helpful in avoiding illness of many types – not just Covid-19. We have noticed more recently that some other illnesses are circulating. Please continue to monitor your own child(ren) and if they are sick, please keep them at home until they are better.

Outdoor Learning Space and Garden – From Seed to Plate.
This week the pupils from Junior Infants to Third Class, between the rain showers, began planting early seed potatoes. A big thank you to Mark, our caretaker, for preparing the soil. By planting our seed potatoes now, it will ensure that we will be harvesting in June, before we break up for the summer holidays. Over the coming months, each class will take care of and watch how their potato crop progresses. Hopefully, and with our fingers crossed we will have a good yield. This will enable the pupils to see the potatoes come from the soil to the kitchen, where we will cook and taste them. 5th Class and Miss Walsh planted their seed potatoes three weeks ago, as part of the Incredible Edibles programme, and so far the green shoots are shooting up.

Happy Ramadan
Ramadan Mubarak to all families who are celebrating this Holy month. May your special month bring peace, happiness and infinite blessings.

Trócaire
On Wednesday we had a special visitor to our school from Trócaire Head Office, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. The pupils in 4th and 5th classes took part in this year’s workshops. Grainne, who has worked with Trócaire for over 20 years told the pupils all about the important work Trocaire does in 16 countries around the world. The focus of the workshop this year is the girl, Nasteha and her family, who features on this year’s Trócaire box. The pupils enjoyed the workshops and asked many questions afterwards. Thank you all for your support and generosity during this Lent and especially to our Trócaire Ambassadors in 5th Class. I wish you all a happy and Holy Easter.

Miss Kelly.
