Action Team Partnership
Partnership Schools Ireland is a joint project set up by the National Parents’ Council and the Irish Primary
Principals’ Network. It promotes an approach to education that is based on partnership. The aim is to
improve the educational opportunities being provided by the school by having members of the school staff,
parents, pupils and people from the local community working together as an Action Team.
The partnership develops goals and targets focused on:
- Two curricular areas
- One behavioural area and
- One area that develops a climate of partnership
The Action Team for Our Lady of Good Counsel GNS is:

WHAT THE ACTION TEAM ACHIEVED IN ITS FIRST YEAR
- The Good Counsel Good Citizen Awards
- Planned and implemented a Good Citizenship Training Programme
- Designed certificates and badges for the Award Programme
- Informed the school community about the Awards Programme
- Implemented the Good Counsel Good Citizen Awards
- A ‘Shape and Space’ Dictionary
- Drafted, reviewed and piloted a ‘Shape and Space Dictionary’ for Fourth Class
- Drafted and reviewed a ‘Shape and Space Dictionary’ for all classes
- Funding sought and received for publication of the dictionary
- Dictionary sent to printer for publication
- New approach to the teaching and learning of Shape and Space implemented in all
classes.
- Coiscéim
- Planned and developed an age appropriate follow-on programme for Aistear
- The new programme, named ‘Coiscéim’ is currently being implemented in First Class
- Aistear Project
- Planned and developed an Aistear module based on ‘The Library’ in collaboration
with Ferrybank Library - Successfully implemented the module with Senior Infants in collaboration with
Ferrybank Library - The project was entered in a National Competition and was awarded Second Place.
- The project has now been added to a suite of materials provided to schools nationwide
by the Public Library system.
- Planned and developed an Aistear module based on ‘The Library’ in collaboration
The Action Team’s aims for the 2016/2017 School Year are:
