Dear Mams and Dads,
Unfortunately, we cannot hold our annual Mission Week this year. However, we would like to continue to support Opportunity Knox, which is a local charity that works with children in Uganda. We have given the charity our Mission Week money over the last few years. The girls may dress up in their Hallowe’en costumes on Friday (if they wish to do so) and if they could bring in 50c each please, we will pass it on to Opportunity Knox.
The Mayor of Waterford cannot visit schools this year to present Attendance Certificates, but he has sent a lovely letter to say ‘Well Done’ to everyone on doing their best to come to school. Today and tomorrow, class teachers will present certificates from the school to all the girls who missed no more than 3 days between September and 11th March. We wanted to do this to acknowledge the great work being done by Mams and Dads in getting the girls to school every day.
Everyone now has an email contact address for their child’s teacher. This email address should be used to let the teacher know that a child will be absent, or late or to arrange an early pick-up for an appointment. Teachers email addresses should not be used to address concerns. If you need to speak with the teacher about a concern, please call the school office on 051 832984 and arrange a call back.
The weather forecast is not great for this week. Please make sure that the girls have a coat as we will be going outside as usual for pick-ups even it is raining. Things do take a little longer when it is raining, so I would ask you to please have patience, stay in your car and we will get you through the car park as quickly as possible.
As we move into tighter restrictions, you are asked to please wear a face covering when you are dropping off or collecting a child from school.
The good news today is that even though the Mayor is not visiting us this year, we are taking the traditional ‘Mayor’s Half Day’ on Friday 23rd October. Pick up times on Friday are as follows:
- 12.10p.m. Junior and Senior Infants
- 12.20p.m. First Class and Second Class
- 12.30p.m. Third Class to Sixth Class
